So yeah, the last 8 weeks I’ve been practicing these songs with my lil band. I finally got to perform them live at a real venue (Kings)! It was so much fun. I’m so grateful for the chance to play, for the people I’ve met, for my music teachers along the way.

Here’s to many more years of making some noise. 🍻

I feel like my perfectionism has really chilled out since doing shows upon shows of improv. I think even a year ago I would have stressed myself out about 1) performing in front of people and 2) messing up my solos. Well, I had a great time performing. I hardly even noticed the audience was there. And I goofed something up in every single song! And I feel great about it! As our band coach person Crystal said about the showcase, “it’s not about perfection, it’s about community.”

GrrrlBands has been an awesome time. I love that most of us found out about the program through flyers that were posted throughout town. Seems like printouts reach the exact people you want them to.
